Creating a buzz at The Book Hive
One of the best things about having a new independent bookshop in Norwich is that not only will we get the sort of major international literary names giving talks throughout the year that we have got used to, but with the launch of The Book Hive we also have a high profile venue to showcase some of the wonderful local talent we have on our very own doorstep. Stephen Fry and Patrick Ness have already given the shop their blessing, while Nick Rogers launched his novel Southampton Dada there in October. Over the next few weeks three more authors will be reading, signing, and selling their books in this relaxed and beautifully decorated new literary setting.
First up, at 7pm on Friday 20th November, Philadelphia raised KR Moorhead launches her debut novel, The First Law of Motion. Billed as the start of an exciting new literary career, The First Law of Motion tells the tale of a young woman trying to outrun her regrets and the reoccurring approach of dawn with nothing but controlled substances, unfulfilling sex and sarcasm to sustain her anti-quest.
A week later, at 6.30 on Thursday 26th November Tom Cox will be reading from various pieces of work in progress, including his new book Talk to the Tail. Tom’s previous titles include Bring me the Head of Sergio Garcia, a memoir about playing golf badly, and Under The Paw, a record of the chaos of owning six of the most charismatic, idiotic and duplicitous cats in the country.
Last but not least, Escalator 2007 Highly Commended author Johnny Fincham will be launching his novel, While the Gods Sleep, at 7pm on Thursday 3rd December. Johnny’s book was picked up by U.S. publisher Virtual Tales after they saw his Escalator extract on our old New Writing Partnership website.
What better way to spend a cold dark evening than with great new literature to keep you warm?
