About the Workshop
This day-long writing workshop will be focused on developing your novel and perfecting your writing style. Prior to the workshop your piece will be circulated within the group, and at the workshop peer feedback will be actively encouraged. You will discuss the art of writing within a group environment which will provide fresh and constructive advice to help you tackle any problems within your novel.
By looking closely at existing novels, undertaking exercises and getting expert advice from Rachel, you’ll explore new ways of developing and improving your novel.
Rachel will email individual feedback to each participant following the workshop.
About the Author
Rachel Hore has published five best-selling novels, including A Place of Secrets which was selected for the Richard and Judy Bookclub (in association with WH Smith) in 2010. Her most recent novel, A Gathering Storm, was published in September 2011. Rachel teaches Publishing at UEA and also reviews for the national press. She is married to writer DJ Taylor and they have three sons.

After booking online please send the first 1,000 words of your novel, along with a précis (no more than 1 A4 sheet, to include a short synopsis of what the novel is about, where you are in the process, any key decisions you have made/need to make to move the work along and what your current issues or barriers with the piece may be) by Friday 26th October to info@writerscentrenorwich.org.uk
Extracts and novel précis will be shared between participants prior to the workshop.
Level:This Masterclass is suitable for advanced level writers who are familiar with the workshopping process and are currently working on a novel.
Not suited for:Those who have not participated in a workshop environment previously or have not completed a reasonable portion of their novel. It might not suit Young Adult, overtly genre or category fiction. Please check with the Writers' Centre if you are unsure.
Payment is non-refundable unless the workshop is cancelled.
About the Venue
This workshop will take place in the workshop room situated on the ground floor of the Writers' Centre Norwich office, on 14 Princes Street.
This room provides an ideal environment for creative thinking and learning with plenty of space and natural light.
