Summer Reads 2011: Read the Mango Orchard with the Book Club

Date: 26/07/2011 Times: 6pm Prices: Free Location: Writers' Centre Norwich

Information on the sixth (and concluding) Summer Reads 2011 Book Club session!

Description

Come and read one or more of our six great reads this May-July and then air your views on them with other interested readers at our Summer Reads Book Club.

The club will run fortnightly from May in book shops and libraries around Norwich. You'll get to meet fellow readers and share your thoughts with others in lively, informal sessions. All sessions will be led by Writers' Centre Norwich's Sam Ruddock - a keen reader. You'll find yourself in a welcoming, inclusive environment with other people just as keen about reading as you are and you can come to all or just some of the sessions - it's up to you.

This week's book is Robin Bayley's the Mango Orchard.

As a boy, Robin Bayley always loved hearing stories about his great-grandfather's Latin American adventures.

Intent on discovering the truth behind these stories, Robin gives up a career to retrace his ancestor's footsteps accross the Americas. What he discovers in a village in Western Mexico is nothing short of life-changing.

Sam says: Travel writing and family history fuse in this engaging and enjoyable book. Bayley's journey warmed my heart and reminded me of thecommon humanity we share the world over."
