Description

In celebration of JM Coetzee’s visit to Norwich, Cinema City hosts a special screening of the film adaptation of his Booker Prize winning novel Disgrace.

The film follows David Lurie (John Malkovich), twice-divorced and dissatisfied with his job as an English professor in post-apartheid South Africa, he is forced to come to terms with the changes in society - as well as his own disgrace.

Film adaptations from books are a risky business. Why not find out for yourself how the Australian husband and wife team of director Steve Jacobs and screenwriter Anna-Maria Monticelli got on. The reviews have certainly been respectable, and Coetzee was pleased enough to say that:

"Steve Jacobs has succeeded beautifully in integrating the story into the grand landscape of South Africa."

Come along and see one of the best English language books of recent years... transferred to the big screen!
