The Hewitt - Letters to Europe

Writers Centre Norwich organised for over 200 students at schools across Norfolk to work with a professional writer and a refugee to compose a series of Letters to Europe. These letters form part of an international conversation about the future of Europe, and the hopes and dreams young people harbour for it.

We're delighted to post this letter from The Hewitt.

I’ve lost my food, I’ve lost my food, I’ve lost my clothes and my cat,
I wish that there was some way I could get them back.

But it doesn’t matter because I have seen my life shatter
I’ll never go back to my country again.

I’m in Norwich now I’ve made a new pal
and I’m going to start a new life.

But the horrible memories of the war will linger in my head forever but at least
More will linger in my head forever but at least I’m warm, safe and well fed.

I have a new fresh life now and this is where I say goodbye
I’ll always remember my experience for as long as I live... Bye!

The Hewitt (No name or school details).
