Writing Workshop with James Scudamore

Description

Setting and Character Saturday 6th February 2010 ¦10:00am – 16:00pm¦£50 / £40 conc 'The writing is exemplary: you feel the hand of a natural at work, one whose command of tone is strong, and who has an instinctive feel for handling a story.' Praise for James Scudamore’s Heliopolis - Guardian This day-long creative writing workshop from Booker Prize longlisted author James Scudamore looks at two key components of fiction that go towards building the first draft of your novel, namely, Setting and Character. James will work with you on creative writing exercises that examine the decisions involved when placing a character in a particular place and time; how to evoke that place and time successfully, without signposting too much, and whether or not there are settings that are out of bounds for certain writers. Aimed at writers who are looking to explore their own concepts of character and setting further, this is an ideal opportunity to learn from a novelist who has been making leaps and bounds in the literary world.
