To celebrate the finale of Refugee Week, Writers’ Centre Norwich are organising a family fun day at Eaton park that will include entertaining activities for all ages.
Bring along a picnic and enjoy performances and activities including storytelling for young people, poetry readings, face painting, carnival costumes and a good helping of traditional brass band music to play out the day.
The morning will see John Row, storyteller and poet, entertaining children with his unique repertoire of tales and poetry. For those that enjoy crafts, the Spirit of Carnival group will provide materials and assistance with mask making, pom-pom streamers for children and carnival costumes with headdresses for families to view and try.
During the afternoon there will be two half hour slots of thoughtful poetry exploring friendship and community, from three international poets; Nela Milic, Valbona Voca Bashota and Soheila Ghodstinat, who have all experienced issues surrounding Refugee Week and writing in exile.
A final flourish to events will bring music to your ears. Brass music to be precise, so bring along a deck chair and relax the afternoon away!
