The reception will kick off in Fusion, Europe’s largest permanent digital screen gallery. Here you can  enjoy a glass of wine and view  films exploring home and identity created by Norfolk primary school children with help from the BBC Voices team, which are on show in the space all week.

Stories and Setting

Moving downstairs to The Curve, a new purpose-built auditorium, you will hear from writers Chenjerai Hove who will share his experience of living under an oppressive regime from his time in Zimbabwe, and consequently, as a writer in exile and Giles Foden (author of The Last King of Scotland). Chris Gribble, and the Major of Norwich will talk about the city and Writers’ Centre Norwich’s involvement in Refugee Week and City of Refuge, and Gary Standley from BBC Voices will introduce more films from the digital stories.

Who Should Go?

Refugee Week is for everyone. You can be sure that throughout the week all ages and interests will be catered for, with films, plays, walks and most important of all, discovery of how our lives have been positively and creatively influenced by refugees. This event will give you a taste of what’s to come and a great platform to start off your involvement in the week ahead.

Free. To book your place please email info@writerscentrenorwich.org.uk .

The digital films were created as part of the Shahrazad project through Writers’ Centre Norwich’s City of Refuge programme.
