Shahrazad Digital Stories Screening

Sunday 14th June, Fusion @ The Forum, Norwich, 2:00pm, Free

View digital films made by imaginative young minds.

Young people from four schools in Norfolk – Notredame High, Sprowston High, Costessey Junior and Wymondham High have been working with children in five other European cities and with professional writers on a series of Letters to Europe, exploring home and identity. Working with BBC Voices they have turned these letters into digital stories.

Throughout Refugee Week we invite you to come along and view these films in the Forum’s new cinematic space Fusion – Europe’s largest permanent digital screen gallery. Films made here in Norwich will be shown alongside their European counterparts, allowing you a unique shot into the minds of Europe’s  young people and the chance to see some inspiring digital art.

Make Your Own Film

If seeing the films inspires you with your own ideas, then please check back to Writers’ Centre Norwich’s events pages soon, where news of our free monthly digital stories workshops for adults will soon be appearing.

Writers’ Centre Norwich launched the Shahrazad Letters to Europe project as part of its Norwich City of Refuge programme bringing six Cities of Refuge’s work together: Norwich, Stockholm, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt and Stavangar.

About Shahrazad – Stories for Life
The Shahrazad project is an offshoot of the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN). It opens up space in Europe for all kinds of writers who have been persecuted and silenced in their own homelands to connect and release stories. Human rights, free speech, diversity and solidarity are core values within the project. www.shahrazadeu.org/
