We are delighted to announce that Peggy Hughes has been appointed as the new Programme Director for Writers’ Centre Norwich and will join the team this November.

Peggy has enormous experience within the literature sector having worked at Edinburgh International Book Festival, StAnza, Scottish Poetry Library and Edinburgh City of Literature Trust. In 2013 she joined Literary Dundee (an initiative of the University of Dundee) as Director, where she produced and delivered the annual Dundee Literary Festival and coordinated the Dundee International Book Prize.

'I’m completely over the moon to be joining WCN as Programme Director - it's a unique and admirable organisation with a brilliant, rich programme of activity and a very exciting few years ahead. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and working with this brilliant, passionate and knowledgeable team to shape a Writers’ Centre for our time and the times to come.'

Peggy also founded Edinburgh’s Electric Bookshop and co-founded the West Port Book Festival. She is Chair of Literature Alliance Scotland, a board member of Craigmillar Literacy Trust and regularly chairs events at literary festivals and panels.

Chris Gribble, CEO of WCN says: 'We’re all excited about Peggy’s arrival at WCN. As we make the transition to the National Centre for Writing in 2018 she will bring passion, expertise, great networks and energy to help us write the next chapter of our story. Jon has really shaped and made the role over the past four years and we’re enormously grateful for the work he’s done and will look forward to a continued professional relationship with him from his new base in China.'
