Take your poetry a step further with Michael Symmons Roberts.

Description

“He reflects on the world in a way that is informed by a sense of grace, of transcendence, but the pieces are grounded in detail, beautifully expressed, subtly luminous.”  Robert Potts, The Guardian.

Take your poetry a step further with the Professor of Poetry from Manchester Metropolitan University, Michael Symmons Roberts.

Michael will open your eyes to the possibilities of exploring and engaging with subjects beyond the personal in poetry. You’ll find out how poets can work with scientific, political or religious ideas, and the risks and rewards of attempting it.

Michael’s forth book of poetry, Corpus won the 2004 Whitbread Poetry Award. He was also shortlisted for the Griffin International Poetry Prize, the Forward Prize and for the T.S. Eliot Prize.

Michael’s experience in the literature world is broad. His continuing collaboration with composer James MacMillan has led to two BBC Proms choral commissions, and his broadcast work includes A Fearful Symmetry - for Radio 4 - which won the Sandford St Martin Prize. And did we mention that he’s published two novels...
