Description
‘A poem shouldn’t mean /But be.’ Archibald MacLeish, Ars Poetica.
Does your poetry ever seem a little lifeless?
This writing workshop with TS Eliot Prize shortlisted poet Moniza Alvi will ensure that your poetry is an experience, rather than merely a record of one.
Through a mixture of group discussion, reading and writing you will discover hidden elements in your writing, and learn how to bring your poetry to life. You will also consider whether your poetry always has to mean something.
Moniza’s expertise as a workshop leader combined with her celebrated skill as a poet will instruct and inspire in equal measure. Her recent collections Split World and Europa (Bloodaxe Books, 2008) explore real and imagined homelands and the interplay between imagination and reality. They are also great examples of poetry as experience.
So don’t miss out: book your place today.
