ILS Festival Forum: Festival Communities

16 March 2017
High Street Theatre, London Book Fair
1 - 2pm
Visitor / Exhibitor pass

Part of the International Literature Showcase Festival Forum.

Literature festivals are part of many communities - authors, publishers, audiences, funders and media partners all contribute to the ecosystems that literary festivals create.

As much as a festival’s programme is important, it is the alchemy of the particular audiences, writers and literature professionals it brings together – and the space created for them - which determines its personality, and ultimately its success. What does the idea of ‘community’ mean for literature festivals? Does it stop at education and outreach, or can the notion of a ‘temporary community’ be built to encompass both local and international, public and professional, for the benefit of all?

Join us to talk about how our various communities enrich and make every festival unique. Featuring Nick Barley (Edinburgh International Book Festival), Adrian Turpin (Wigtown) and more.

Sponsored by the International Literature Showcase, Arts Council England, British Council and Writers' Centre Norwich.
