Description

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year award is open for entries for just six more weeks.

The competition is now firmly established as a key award for young writers aged 11-17. Each year 100 winners (85 Commendations and 15 Overall Winners) are selected by a team of high profile judges, and receive their awards at an annual prize-giving event on National Poetry Day.

The 15 Overall Winners attend a week-long intensive residential Arvon course or receive a poetry residency at their school followed by distance mentoring (age dependent), and have their poems published in the yearly Foyle Anthology which is distributed across the UK and worldwide.

Individuals can enter online, and postal forms for class sets and individuals can also be downloaded via the website.

The competition is free to enter and writers must be aged 11-17 on the closing date of the 31st July 2011 to submit – see full rules on the website.

Judges are Glyn Maxwell and Imtiaz Dharker
