Description
Are you working on a piece of non-fiction such as an investigative book, history, biography or memoir?
Give your work the best chance you can by taking part in this researching, writing and selling workshop led by award-winning author and Director of the Creative Writing (Non-Fiction) MA at City University London, Julie Wheelwright.
About the Workshop
Julie, who has also produced television documentaries for the History Channel, the BBC and Channel Four, will begin by looking at documentation. You’ll tackle research skills; how to organise your investigation, how to think critically about sources and how to manage issues like copyright clearance, privacy and digital rights.
Next up you’ll explore how to turn your ideas and research into good writing by looking at narrative technique, characterisation, style, structure and editing.
Finally, you’ll learn the vital step for non-fiction writers: how to sell your fledgling project. You’ll learn practical tips on what needs to go into a book proposal including the pitch to an agent, writing a synopsis, a chapter outline and sample chapters and finally, where to send your completed package. Discover how to create a pitch that will work and how to ffind which agents are most appropriate for your work.
Book your place – non-fiction workshops of this calibre are few and far between.
