Call for submissions (Norwich Arts Centre, Spring 2012).
My Little Eye 2012 will integrate poetry/drama/music and multimedia using theatrical production values. The show is anticipated to run at no more than 1hr 30min and is intended to showcase emerging talent in an innovative way.
Submissions of single poems, sequences, poems for multiple voices and musical/vocal compositions are invited tackling the theme of Childhood.
Within this theme, contributors are asked to choose a specific subject for each submission from the list below. The first being -
1) Innocent Joys
(Suggested starting points: innocence in motion/stasis, the nature of beauty, love for mother/other & self.)
2) Animal instincts
(Suggested starting points: possession/consumption/jealousy/envy/loneliness.)
3) Destruction
(Suggested starting points: damage to self/world/others/objects/ideas.)
4) Threat
(Suggested starting points: monsters real & imagined, the outside, adults, the natural world/modernity/technology, conflict, love/fear.)
Submissions are particularly encouraged from writers willing to workshop the presentation of their work verbally, physically and collaboratively with actors and musicians.
However, poems for the company’s actors to perform/dramatize are also warmly welcomed.
A commitment to periodic evening/wkend rehearsals in Norwich throughout February and March 2012 would be required. Payment for a run-day and the performances would be provided pending confirmation of funding.
