Details on the first of the Summer Reads Book Club events: Simon Armitage's Seeing Stars
Description
Come and read one or more of our six great reads this May-July and then air your views on them with other interested readers at our Summer Reads Book Club.
The club will run once a fortnight from May at book shops and libraries around Norwich. You'll get to meet fellow readers and share your thoughts with others in lively, informal sessions. All sessions will be led by Writers' Centre Norwich's Sam Ruddock - a keen reader. You'll find yourself in a welcoming, inclusive environment with other people just as keen about reading as you are and you can come to all or just some of the sessions - it's up to you.
This week's book is Simon Armitage's Seeing Stars:
Language is on the loose in these poems, which cut and run across the parterre of poetic decorum with their cartoon-strip energies and air of misrule. Armitage creates world after world, peculiar yet always particular, where the only certainty is the unexpected.
Sam says: “Seeing Stars made me laugh out loud, even while pausing to take on a new perspective on life.”
