Summer Reads 2011: Read After the Fire, a Still Small Voice with the Book Club

Date: 31/05/2011 Times: 6pm Prices: Free Location: Cafe Metro, Jarrolds

Information on the second of our Summer Reads 2011 Book Club sessions.

Description

Come and read one or more of our six great reads this May-July and then air your views on them with other interested readers at our Summer Reads Book Club.

The club will run fortnightly from May in book shops and libraries around Norwich. You'll get to meet fellow readers and share your thoughts with others in lively, informal sessions. All sessions will be led by Writers' Centre Norwich's Sam Ruddock - a keen reader. You'll find yourself in a welcoming, inclusive environment with other people just as keen about reading as you are and you can come to all or just some of the sessions - it's up to you.

This week's book is After The Fire, a Still Small Voice by Evie Wyld:

Frank and Leon are two men from different times, discovering that sometimes all you learn from your parents' mistakes is how to make different ones of your own. A stark portrait of life on the fringes of society by one of the Culture Show's 12 Best New British Writers.

Sam says: "Powerful, white-knuckle writing. Debuts don't come much more impressive than this."
