About the workshop
This course will give you a solid grounding in the conceptual and practical issues around evaluation, whether carried out internally or through an expert evaluator. At the end of the course, you will have the practical tools to improve the effectiveness of your own or other organisations' evaluation systems.
Course content
The course covers the following eleven areas:
The steps in planning an evaluation.

How you can use evaluation for your own organisational learning.
How you can integrate evaluation into your own operations.
How to produce a logic model.
How you can identify the key questions for evaluation.
How to define and measure outcomes.
How you can choose the right methods for evaluation.
Common problems with evaluation and how to resolve them.
How to write questionnaires.
When and how to use external evaluators.
How to construct useful performance indicators.
How to present evaluation information.
About the tutor
Annabel Jackson is an evaluator specialising in culture, with 25 years’ experience. She has written evaluation systems for all the UK arts councils, the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, the Sainsbury Family Trusts, ABO, British Film Institute and many funded arts organisations as well as other charities e.g. evaluations of Grants for the Arts, Escalator, Turning Point Network, museumaker, Big Dance and digital opportunities. Her background is in regeneration, entrepreneurship and workspace development.

This workshop will take place in the workshop room situated on the ground floor of the Writers’ Centre Norwich office, on 14 Princes Street.
The room provides an ideal environment for creative thinking and learning with plenty of space and natural light.
